Breathtaking Elopements, Intricate Traditional Wedding or Carefree Intimate Wedding?

The reason I don’t say I strictly photograph elopements or traditional weddings is because I don’t ever want a bride to feel that her day isn’t enough. No matter what your big day looks like, IT IS ENOUGH. It is deserving of documentation and joyous celebration and I will never “pass you up” because I don’t think your wedding or engagement is “cool enough”.

That being said, I wanted to go over three different types of weddings I shoot.

1) Elopements

Here’s what I love about a good ol’ fashion elopement. You can elope in Colorado, you can elope in New Mexico, you can elope in Arizona, Jamaica, Africa- you can literally elope wherever your heart desires! (Yes - I really will meet you there!) I love that elopements tend to be a strict focus on two people and the love they share, and typically either place you love to go together or have always dreamt of going to. An elopement is a day FULL of adventure, heart warming vows and chasing wild sunsets. Elopements are totally carefree events where we can pop champagne, picnic, eat desserts and spend the day getting cozy with just the two of you. Whether it’s a cityscape, an ocean, a desert, or a woody area, I am down to help plan an epic day for the two of you!

Some elopement places I have shot at or have been itching to shoot at are:

  • Lake Abiquiu in New Mexico

  • Lake Powell in Arizona

  • The art district in Taos, New Mexico

  • Maroon Bells in Aspen, CO

  • Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs, CO

  • Estes Park, in Estes, CO

  • Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado

  • White Sand Dunes National Park in New Mexico

  • Santorini, Greece

  • Sydney, Australia

  • The Redwoods National Forest in California

  • Bridal Veil Falls in Ouray, CO

  • Anywhere Telluride, CO related

  • Grand Tetons National Park. Wyoming

  • Dead Horse Point State Park, Moab Utah

and so many more! I want to go anywhere + everywhere your heart desires.

Traditional Weddings

I know there are so many nature lovers who would love to elope, but feel that they need their family there. If you’re like my fiance and I, you have an enormous amount of family and couldn’t imagine them missing from your special day. I GET IT! This doesn’t mean you have to compromise. I have seen some super incredible venues around that still give a sort of nature inspired bohemian twist, while providing room for the people you love!
Some places I have shot at or am dying to shoot at:

and on and on and on! Some of these venues can hold more guests than others, and I understand staying true to yourself as couple often means staying true to your family, too. The important thing here is to compromise, not settle. You can still have the bohemian wedding of your dreams with everyone involved and still have a carefree and wild spirit. I suggest hiring a wedding planner or at the very least, a day of coordinator to help on this one. Seriously, some of my favorite days have been big weddings full of love!

Pro tip: Still dying for portraits of the two of you under some stars or in a desert but don’t feel like carting an entire family along with you? I have the option for an adventure session which can be an anniversary session, engagement, or bridal session with each package! Read more about those here!

3) Intimate Weddings

One of my favorite options and sometimes I think the most underrated. People think you have to either go big or go home, and I’m here to tell you that is simply not true. If you keep your circle tight and feel like you have a handful of friends and family that would give a resounding “HELL YEAH” and follow you wherever you wanted to go to witness your union, then this is for you. You can still toss that bouquet and dance all night long - just with a smaller group of people. A little more planning required on your end than an elopement, but a heck of a lot less of it than a traditional wedding would be. I have some hidden and underrated gems of venues that I’d absolutely adore to or have shot at that are perfect for these intimate weddings!

Intimate Weddings are fun because with just a little creativity, you can hold an intimate wedding almost ANYWHERE if they allow it. In national Parks with a permit, in traditional venues and even in an epic Air BNB!

Whether you choose to elope, have a larger wedding or share an intimate wedding with the people you love most, and wherever you have it: I’d love to celebrate with you!
